How to get transport from Gatwick airport to Central London
The easiest way to reach Central London from Gatwick airport is by taking the Gatwick Express. It is a train that departs from the South Terminal every 15 minutes. If you are arriving at the North Terminal, there is a free shuttle bus that will take you to the South Terminal. Tickets will usually cost you around 20 GBP. It will take you directly to London Victoria station in about 30 minutes.
You can also reach Central London from Gatwick using the Thameslink train. It is slightly cheaper than Gatwick Express, usually around 15 GBP or less. However, you may need to get a transfer once you reach the city, depending on where you are going. While the Gatwick Express is more expensive, its advantage is that it is a direct route that takes you into the city. It is usually also the faster option. The Thameslink will usually take 35-45 minutes to reach the city from the airport.
You could also take a bus from the airport into the city. This can sometimes be the cheaper option. Some bus fares can cost under 10 GBP. However, it will be expected to take you longer. Travel time can be upwards of an hour to reach the city by taking the bus, and in some cases, up to two hours. If you are taking a taxi, you can expect to reach the city in under an hour. However, the cost can be expensive for taking a taxi. Fares usually start at 60 GBP and can reach more than 100 GBP.
