Belfast International Airport – travel guide
Belfast International Airport is the main air gateway to Northern Ireland and the second busiest airport in the whole of Ireland after Dublin.
How to get to the airport
Belfast International is situated in the heart of Northern Ireland, 18 miles north-west of the capital city.
Car
Drivers can reach the airport by taking the M2 and A57 roads or the M1 and A26 from the south and west. Over 8,000 parking spaces are available just outside the terminal entrance.
Bus
Regular bus services depart from the front of the terminal building and take passengers to Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry. From these locations, travelers can reach the rest of Northern Ireland and access extensive public transport networks.
Taxi
The International Airport Taxi Company is Belfast International's official taxi operator and provides cars from just outside the exit lobby 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Shopping and eating
The airport's Aelia duty-free store sells everything from perfumes, clothing and jewelry to spirits and confectionery, with plenty of discounts and bargains to be found on products from brands such as Chanel, Clarins and Swarovski.
Starbucks, Burger King and Caffe Ritazza are among the venues on offer to travelers who want to get a quick drink or snack to take away. Sit-down meals are also available at these and other outlets such as Fed & Watered and Coco Diablo.
Other facilities
The Change Group operates two foreign exchange desks at Belfast International Airport, one just before the main security search area and the other in international arrivals.
Corporate and leisure customers alike can make use of the Business Lounge, a dedicated area located just beyond the tax-free shopping outlets. Guests can get their journey off to a relaxing start by sitting down with a cup of freshly brewed coffee or some complimentary snacks and refreshments.
The airport offers many other facilities that could prove useful for travelers, including baby change points in the main arrivals hall and the domestic and international departure lounges, a luggage weighing system and a dedicated service for people with reduced mobility.
