Direct flights with Qantas - Discover all destinations
Qantas (IATA: QF) is Australia’s flag carrier and a founding member of the Oneworld Alliance. It operates from its hubs in the four largest cities in Australia to over 100 destinations in all 7 continents. Its network consists of direct flights on 120 unique domestic routes and long-haul services to more than 20 countries. Use the filter tool above to explore all of Qantas’s direct flights.
Qantas was founded in 1920 and is today one of the oldest airlines in continuous operation. It serves more than 100 destinations, of which around 60 are domestic and more than 40 are cities around the world, in each of the 6 inhabited continents.
Qantas also operates so-called 'flightseeing' charter flights to Antarctica, which do not land on the continent. They are round-trip flights from each of the airline’s hubs in Australia. Thus, many consider Qantas to be the only airline in the world to fly to all 7 continents.
Its fleet includes both Boeing and Airbus, in total, over 120 aircraft. Qantas selected a modified Airbus A350-1000 for its Project Sunrise - new ultra-long-haul services to New York and London starting in 2026, which will be the longest non-stop flights globally.

Qantas’s hubs, bases, and focus cities
Qantas operates from four hubs:
Sydney (SYD): The airline’s largest hub for both domestic and long‑haul international routes.
Melbourne (MEL): Another major hub and base for flights within Australia and to North America.
Brisbane (BNE): Qantas’s growing gateway for Asia and the USA.
Perth (PER): A strategic airport for European and African routes for its location on Australia’s West Coast.
Focus cities for Qantas include Adelaide, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, and Alice Springs.
Domestic direct flights with Qantas
Qantas connects major Australian cities with frequent, reliable services. Its major competitor domestically is Virgin Australia.
For cheaper air fares within Australia, you can also search for flights with the low-cost airline Jetstar, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qantas.
The busiest domestic routes in Australia are between the 5 largest cities:
Sydney (SYD) - Melbourne (MEL): Australia’s most important domestic route. Qantas provides up to 36 daily flights.
Sydney (SYD) - Brisbane (BNE): A high-frequency link between the capitals of New South Wales and Queensland.
Melbourne (MEL) - Perth (PER): Four daily flights across the continent.
Brisbane (BNE) - Perth (PER): 4-6 flights per day linking east and west.
Sydney (SYD) - Adelaide (ADL): Up to 10 flights daily to the 5th most populous city in Australia.
Direct flights to the United States
Flying from the East Coast of Australia, Qantas has no problems reaching the USA’s West Coast with nonstop flights. Direct flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and even Dallas/Fort Worth are frequently operated from the three major Australian cities in the East.
However, flying directly to New York, Miami, or Boston is not possible currently. Qantas presently offers a fifth-freedom flight from Auckland (AKL) to New York (JFK), but we will have to wait until the completion of Project Sunrise to see direct flights from Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane to New York.
Here are the busiest routes from Australia to the USA as of mid-2025:
Sydney (SYD) - Los Angeles (LAX): Daily A380 or 787 flights on what is the busiest route between Australia and the USA.
Brisbane (BNE) - Los Angeles (LAX): Daily service on the only route to the US from Brisbane. Qantas also flies to LA from Melbourne.
Melbourne (MEL) - Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW): Flights available four days per week on what is currently Qantas’s longest non-stop flight.
Sydney (SYD) - San Francisco (SFO): Qantas offers a direct flight to San Francisco 3 days a week, only from Sydney. United Airlines also offers flights on this route.
Melbourne (MEL) - Honolulu (HNL): A popular holiday route served 3 times per week. You can also fly to Hawaii from Sydney.
Other international nonstop flights with Qantas
Qantas has a well-developed network of long-haul flights connecting to all inhabited continents of the world.
Here are some of the flagship routes you can take:
Sydney (SYD) - Auckland (AKL): Qantas operates up to 6 daily flights to New Zealand.
Perth (PER) - London Heathrow (LHR): Daily ultra-long-haul flights via the Kangaroo Route on what is one of the longest non-stop flights in the world.
Perth (PER) - Rome (FCO): Seasonal non-stop services to the Italian capital and a major tourist hotspot.
Sydney (SYD) - Santiago (SCL): The only non-stop flight to South America that Qantas offers. It’s flown 4 times per week on Boeing 787 and codeshared with LATAM Airlines.
Sydney (SYD) - Johannesburg (JNB): The airline’s sole route to Africa. It’s operated 5 times per week using Airbus A380 on what is known as the Wallaby Route.
Although Qantas does not have the depth of network of other major airlines, it more than compensates for it by direct services to far-flung places, connecting Australia to some of the most important airports globally.
