Silhouette

Description

Silhouette
This is the third largest island in Seychelles, off Mahe's north west coast and is named after an 18th century French minister. It was reputedly the home of the most notorious pirate, Hodoul, and the islanders believe his treasure is still hidden there. Thirty kilometres from MahZ, its wild and primitive beauty has remained unaltered throughout the years, guarded by the surrounding coral reef.
There are no roads and it is therefore a paradise for walkers who can explore the many paths, shaded by the equatorial forest. It is mountainous with the highest peak "Morne Dauban" rising to 750 metres. Much of the island is covered with lush vegetation, palm trees, plantations of tobacco, coffee, cinnamon and avocados. There are many traditional Creole houses, one of which is an old plantation house.
